In the last seven and more months, the attention of both Israelis and their leaders has been focused on the on-going war in the Gaza strip and the deteriorating situation in the north, which threatens to become a real war also.
This has left the settlers and other extreme right-wing elements in the Occupied Territories to expand their activities against the local population and almost daily, villages are attacked, houses burned, cars destroyed and people frightened into leaving their homes. Olive groves have been uprooted and burned, agricultural growths are being destroyed and sheep and goats are being stolen from herding communities.
And now these terrorists have taken their hatred for Palestinians one step further and they are attacking truck convoys from Jordan, bringing in humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza. Trucks were burned, their drivers beaten and the goods destroyed. Even soldiers arriving at the scene and trying to prevent the murder of the drivers, were beaten by the terrorist settlers. And of course nobody was arrested.
The Israeli public is hardly interested in what is happening, and many will agree with the terrorist activities of the settlers, and the government is only too happy that somebody is doing their dirty work for them. And I don’t use the word “terrorist” lightly. Terrorist attack innocent people, destroy their property and scare them out of their houses and villages. The Police and the Army, both responsible for the safety of the Palestinians living in the Occupied Territories, are doing nothing to prevent these terrorist attacks, and it is rare that one of these terrorists is arrested, and even more rare that they are brought to the courts and punished for their terrorist activities.
And the Israeli Government? As said earlier on, this right-wing fascist government is pleased somebody is doing the dirty work for them and will look the other way, no matter what.
Except, that not all of them are looking the other way. It was published recently that Finance minister Bezalel Smotrich is not looking the other way, but actively involving himself in these terrorist activities, and proudly confirming that this is indeed the case.
Money is flowing to these settler terrorists and their illegal settlements, and Smotrich went as far as calling the terrorists, “heroes” who prevent the take-over of “our homeland” and even senior army officials in the Occupied territories describe the actions of Smotrich (and his fascists colleagues) as having completely undermined the attempts to stop the terrorism and the terrorists are acting without fear or danger that anybody will stop them.
So, a State like Israel, that has suffered dearly from terrorism at home and abroad, that is fighting a war against an horrific terror organization in Gaza, that is making major efforts to catch the leader of Hamas, Yahya Sinwar apparently believes that if you are Jewish, also terrorism is allowed.
Hamas is a terror organization, the settlers have organized into a terror organization; Sinwar supports Hamas with money, Smotrich supports the Jewish terrorists with money, on and under the table; Sinwar encourages and leads the Hamas terrorists, Smotrich encourages and approves of Jewish terrorists; Sinwar is a terrorist, so what does that make Smotrich?????
