The Halachic State of Israel

The war in Gaza is dragging on and in the last couple of months has raged also in Lebanon, where the terror organization Hezbollah, has been shooting rockets since October 8, in solidarity with Hamas in Gaza. Thousands of Israelis, living in the border area with Lebanon have been evacuated and have not seen their house in more than a year.

The war against Hezbollah has been successful, with Israel killing its leaders, destroying their infrastructure, and occupying their land (South Lebanon). All this while the fighting in the Gaza strip still continues, with the government still pursuing a “Total Victory”, the price of this war on both fronts, is becoming harder and harder to comprehend or accept. The number of soldiers, (many of them reservists), that have been killed until now, is rapidly approaching eight hundred and almost daily, names of casualties are being reported.

It is hard to imagine the pain of the families of these fallen soldiers, some of them reservists of forty years old, married and father of children, with others being nineteen and twenty year olds who never had the chance to even start their life. And for some families the army, and the country, make the pain even more difficult to handle and even after the death of their dear ones, they are being reminded that they are “different”, in this case meaning only one thing: they are not Halachic Jews. This is the story of two such “different” soldiers.

David Bogdanovskyi, a nineteen year old soldier who immigrated with his parents from Ukraine, in 2014, under the rule that was then established that non-Jewish relatives of Jewish immigrants would be allowed to immigrate to Israel and obtain citizenship. He grew up in Israel and was drafted into the army like all his Jewish friends.

In December, David was killed with a number of his fellow soldiers, when an anti-tank missile hit the armored car he was driving in. He was buried along with his fellow fallen soldiers, in the military cemetery in Haifa. When his mother one day went to visit his grave, she was astonished to see that the gravestone on the grave of her son was covered with a black cloth.  The explanation the army gave was clear: the gravestone contains a small cross, which for David, being a Christian, is a crucial decoration. However, the army stated that it violates the rules of the army and that many complaints were received from other parents, whose sons are buried in the same area, that the cross is offensive and prevents them from praying. The army demands that the cross is removed, or David’s body will be buried outside the cemetery.

This boy, only nineteen years old, who loved Israel with all his heart and gave his life for his country and for his fellow citizens, after his death becomes an embarrassment and problem for the Jewish supremacy that rules everything in this country, including, it appears, the army.

I am trying to imagine what Jews would have said if on the many, many graves in Europe from fallen soldiers in World War II, the David Star would be removed because it “harms the praying of Christian parents.

Another young soldier, Elishai Young, who was killed two weeks ago in Gaza, does not have Israeli citizenship, even though he was born and raised here and enlisted when he was called up. Elishai is a member of the African Hebrew Israelite community in Dimona, a small community that has been a thorn in the eye of Israel for many years. Many attempts were made to expel the community but in 2013, then Minister of the Interior, Gideon Sa’ar, decreed that those of the community that completed eighteen months of military service would be given permanent residency. Elishai fell in the war before he had served the required eighteen months.

This boy, who like David, gave his life for his country and its citizens, is treated as second class only because he is not Jewish according to the strict rules that govern Israeli’s daily life. Talk about giving him citizenship sounds special but will end up in nothing, because the Jewish dictatorship in Israel will not allow it.

David and Elishai are two examples of how Judaism has taken over the State of Israel and is turning it into a Halachic State. There may be those who realize this and are worried, but the phrase “We are all Jews” prevent them from opening their mouth. But Israel will turn into a country ruled by religion and its discriminatory rules, and he who doesn’t believe it should look to our biggest enemy, Iran. Iran used to be a Western-oriented modern country, (even though the rulers where in fact dictators). However, the rise of the Ayatollahs have turned it into a religion-controlled country, where women are condemned to death for not wearing head overage.

Israel is fast becoming like that and it is high time to stop it (if that is still possible).
